New superliner arrives on Sunday
P&O Cruises' Ventura, the largest cruise ship built exclusively for British holidaymakers, is due to arrive in Southampton on her delivery voyage this Sunday, 6 April. The 113,600-tonne ship, which is due to pass Ryde at 8.55am and Hamble at 9.45am, is due to berth alongside Southampton's Mayflower Cruise Terminal at 11am.
Ventura was built for P&O Cruises by Italian shipbuilders Fincantieri, and will be able to carry more than 3,600 passengers and 1,200 crew. Following a short party cruise, the £300 million ship will be formally named by actress Dame Helen Mirren on 16 April prior before embarking on its official maiden voyage to the Mediterranean.
