Return of the flybridge
2007 was a strangely quiet one for new flybridge boats. With no memorable launches in the core 40ft - 50ft sector it was left to the sportscruiser posse to steal the shows. But London marks a high profile turnaround for Britain's favourite boat design. The new Nord West 370 may not have made it to the show but Princess, Ferretti and Rodman all came up with some very interesting three cabin models.
Arguably the most important of these new launches comes from Rodman, whose new IPS powered Muse 44 should be a huge success. Priced from around £400,000, the interior's light oak and intricately panelled style delivers new levels of detail from this yard. But best of all is the space on offer, especially so given it is based on the same hull as the popular Rodman 41.
Princess do what they do best with the new 50. Delivering the kind of interior space usually found on 60ft craft, the designers have used every inch of this boat to dazzling and practical effect. Starting at the deep and luxurious flybridge, moving down to the two-tier saloon and separate dinette and on to the full beam owner's suite, this really is an awful lot of boat.
