Day 4 - Channel Islands & Brittany

Lazy Day

49°11.00N 002°07.00W

Another beautiful hot sunny day in St Helier; today was a rest day and at last a welcome lay-in for the fleet. A day of exploration beckoned.

MBM staffer Ray hired a car for the day, and took the opportunity to tour the island. In the afternoon Claire and Neale took XS RIB Time Flies around to stunning Gorey Harbour. Unfortunately the tide was falling rapidly so there wasn't much time to explore but a great photo opportunity. Other crews hired bikes, cycling to Corbieré, while others took the bus to various places of interest.

In the evening the MBM team had arranged a group dinner at the St Helier Yacht Club; it was great success. Our thanks to the Yacht Club for their hospitality and for a superb meal.

Tomorrow the plan is to leave as soon as the sill opens and make for the Brittany coast and fishing port of Paimpol. The first boats will depart just after 1000 hrs.
