Day 5 - West Country

50°45.075 N 001°31.497 W

Rain Rain Go Away…..

Heavy rain overnight resulted in a restless night for most, and participants awoke to a damp, windy and dreary morning. It was one of those mornings that you would prefer to stay in bed. But no, it was a new day and there were new surroundings to explore.

Over in Brighton, it had been another sleepless night for the two boats Seaglo and Way Ahead, who remained entombed within the marina wall with the swell coming through the pier heads bumping them around on their berths. Unfortunately the weather prevented them joining the fleet in Lymington today. Desperate for a change of scenery, the two crews hired and car and made the 100-mile passage by road to visit the team.

The continuous rain, howling winds, bad sea conditions and poor visibility in the Solent also prevented the two Portsmouth boats from joining the fleet.

The editor of MBM, Carl Richardson, joined the team in the early evening and accompanied the team, Neale, Claire and Ray at the cruise dinner at the Royal Lymington Yacht Club. The meal was a great success with an excellent turn-out of 30 people, including the boat crews from Poole and Portsmouth.

The plan is to remain in Lymington for another night, and then the MBM team will look into the possibility of moving the fleet on Friday, weather permitting.
