Day 8 - West Country

50° 40.93 N 001° 56.96 W

Today, at last, we had some good news for the fleet. Claire and Ray boarded Time Flies at 10.30am to assess the sea conditions off the Needles for a passage to Poole, only to be faced with 2m waves and agitated seas. Eager to move the fleet after four nights in Lymington, Time Flies changed course and took the inside passage, along the North Channel, and radioed Blue Fin reporting much calmer sea conditions. Cruise Leader Neale informed the rest of the fleet of the go-ahead decision to move and the last boat slipped their lines at Lymington Yacht Haven at 11.50am. And by 2.30pm all 15 boats were safely moored inside Poole Quay Boat Haven. Today the fleet was joined by Fairline Targa 34, Attacker II, from Portsmouth and Nimbus 380 Commander, Suenos, as Poole is their home port.

A pontoon briefing held at 6pm was blessed with sunshine, maybe now the tides have turned for the West Country' Cruise: the plan tomorrow is a move to Dartmouth. Time Flies is due to depart Poole at 7am and make way to Lyme Bay to assess the conditions - all being well the fleet will follow on from 9am onwards.

After the briefing much of the fleet dispersed, venturing into town to search out the local eateries and watering holes.

This morning Michelle, MBM's Production Editor, joined the team for the second week - so the crew is now complete.

The outlook for next week is bright and we are all keen to crack on with the itinery…..so watch this space.
