Day 8 - Holland

51° 45.555N 003° 51.564E

The sun was out earlier today, although the threat of rain was never far away and as if to affirm our fears it is now drizzling, with howling winds.

We are now at Port Zelande and, I have to admit, getting here was hardly an arduous journey - travelling a distance of just 3nm. In fact, it was such a breeze that some people opted for a rather novel approach to cruising, with Harriet on Everso even hitching a ride on a dinghy, motoring along behind her family.

Time Flies was the first to set off at noon, followed by Sea Turtle, Ironic, Mam'selle, Polimar II and Skipjack, which had all been moored in the marina at Brouwershaven, while Neale started calling the rest of the fleet, moored in the harbour, from about 1pm.

As the last few boats arrived at Port Zelande we had a minor problem mooring up as Claire's list went overboard (and she nearly followed it in) but this was quickly sorted. But, if you're in the area and you happen to see a fish swimming along allocating berths, you'll know why.

Unfortunately the planned service of Time Flies didn't happen this morning as the engineer arrived 45 minutes late to announce that there is none of our required oil in the whole of the Netherlands. Oh dear.

Tomorrow is a rest day in Port Zelande and tonight there is a party in the bar with live music and as it's Saturday night we may well pop along, well, it would be rude not to.
